In this question, x represents years. The y represents how much employees are paid. Since the slope is positive, it is rising on both the x- and y-axis. If you were to graph this equation, you would see that, when an additional year passes, $0.65 is added to the employee's hourly wage from the original $5.15 (which is the y-intercept)
So the answer is B. An additional year of service is associated with an additional $0.65 per hour.

How to turn Standard Form ( -x + 2y = 10) to Point slope form?
Inessa05 [86]
Point slope form (slope intercept form)  is y = mx + b

so first move the -x over to the other side

2y = x + 10

Divide 2 to both sides

2y/2 = y
(x + 10)/2 = x/2 + 5

slope intercept form
y = x/2 + 5

hope this helps

For the vertical motion model h(t) = -16t2 + 54t + 3, identify the maximum height reached by an object and the amount of time th
soldi70 [24.7K]

Answer:

  • height: 48.6 ft
  • time in air: 3.4 s

Step-by-step explanation:

A graphing calculator provides a nice answer for these questions. It shows the maximum height is 48.6 feet, and the time in air is 3.4 seconds.

__

The equation can be rewritten to vertex form to find the maximum height.

  h(t) = -16(t^2 -54/16t) +3 . . . . . group t-terms

  h(t) = -16(t^2 -54/16t +(27/16)^2) + 3 + 27^2/16

  h(t) = -16(t -27/16)^2 +48 9/16

The maximum height is 48 9/16 feet, about 48.6 feet.

__

The air time is found at the value of t that makes h(t) = 0.

  0 = -16(t -27/16)^2 +48 9/16

  (-48 9/16)/(-16) = (t -27/16)^2 . . . . . . . subtract 48 9/16 and divide by -16

  (√777 +27)/16 = t ≈ 3.4297 . . . . . square root and add 27/16

The time in air is about 3.4 seconds.
