Part 1: Graph piecewise functions from tables and equations. Isabel sells new and used mystery novels online. Her customers are

primarily in the United States. She sends up to 10 pounds of books in one shipment. She uses the United States Postal Service’s Media Mail service because it is inexpensive for her customers. Current Media Mail shipping prices for book shipments weighing 10 pounds or less appear below.
 How much would it cost to ship a package weighing 3.2 pounds? Explain how you arrived at your answer. (3 points) What type of graph is needed to represent the Media Mail shipping prices as a function of the weight of the books shipped? Explain your thinking. (3 points)

A)<span> How much would it cost to ship a package weighing 3.2 pounds? Explain how you arrived at your answer.
Answer:
Shipping cost of 3.2 package is $4.13.
</span>We can't use the cost assigned to 3 lbs because the package is over 3 lbs but it is not over 4 lbs so we use the cost of 4lbs. (check the attachment for price)

b)<span>What type of graph is needed to represent the Media Mail shipping prices as a function of the weight of the books shipped? Explain your thinking.
Answer:
Line graph </span>is needed to represent the Media Mail shipping prices as a function of the weight of the books shipped.
In line graph, x values represent the weight in pounds and the y values represent the cost.

c)<span>Graph the Media Mail shipping prices as a function of the weight of the books shipped.
Answer;
When we g</span>raph the Media Mail shipping prices as a function of the weight of the books shipped, it will be;

f(x) = 2.69 + 0.48(x-1)

What is the inverse of the function f(x) = 2x + 17
IgorC [24]

To find the inverse of a function switch the place of y (aka f(x) ) with x. Then solve for y.

Original equation:

y = 2x + 17

Switched:

x = 2y + 17

Solve for y by isolating it:

x - 17 = 2y + 17 - 17

x - 17 = 2y

(x - 17)/2 = 2y/2

\frac{1}{2}x-\frac{17}{2}= y

Hope this helped!

Isabelle has a five-sided chicken coop in her yard. Each side has an equal length,
Scilla [17]

Answer:

3 yards.

Step-by-step explanation:

The perimeter of a shape is the sum of the length of all the sides of the shape.

The shape described above is a pentagon since it has 5 sides.

One side is 3/5 yards long.

Hence, the perimeter will be:

P = 3/5 + 3/5 + 3/5 + 3/5 + 3/5

P = 3 yards.

The perimeter of the chicken coop is 3 yards.

Another way of solving this is to simply take 3/5 five times. That is:

P = 3/5 * 5

P = 3 yards.

We arrive at the same answer.

The last one! Because every input has to have a different output! And the last one all have different output compared to the other ones that have the same output with different inputs which does not represent a function
