Often, negligence is treated with less relevance by not leaving apparent marks. However, abuse can cause even worse consequences than physical violence, as the psychological damage caused by neglect affects the physical and emotional development of the child.
A neglected child will not have normal characteristics. The child may be sad, scared, malnourished, scared, among other things. An example of a neglected child can be seen in the question above, where a child wears pajamas at school, is often tired and accumulates food during lunch.
Types. The World Health Organization distinguishes four types of child maltreatment: physical abuse; sexual abuse; emotional and psychological abuse; and neglect.
