You can use the equation d=rt
Amy 14.4=40r    r=0.36 kilometers/minute
Bill 14.4=20r    r= 0.72 kilometers/minute
Amy (0.36 kilometers/minute)(60 seconds/1000 meters)= 0.0216 meters/second
Bill (0.72 kilometers/minute)(60 seconds/1000 meters)=0.0432 meters/second

0.0432-0.0216=0.0216 meters/second faster than Amy

Answer:

The answer is 6 and -6

Step-by-step explanation:

The given equation is
x^2 - kx + 9 = 0 ... (1)

where a = 1. b = -k, c = a

since the equation (1) has equal roots

\Rightarrow b^2 - 4ac = 0 \newline\\\Rightarrow (-k)^2 - 4(1)(9) = 0\\ \newline\\\Rightarrow (k)^2 - 36 = 0 \newline\\\Rightarrow k^2 = 36 \newline\\\Rightarrow k = \pm 6

Hence volume of k = 6, -6
