A parasite is an organism that survives in a non-mutual relationship by obtaining nutrients from the host organism or lives off the host organism. In the case of parasitism, the host is harmed while the "parasite" receives benefits that could range from nutrients to shelter. This strange sickness the Angelfish is receiving is most likely due to the parasite in this instance deriving nutrients from the organism and depleting it's immune system or a disease passed on by a parasite. Hope this helped! :)

Researchers noted that when a lysine residue on a histone is acetylated, its side chain becomes neutral in charge. Combined with
lesantik [10]

Answer:

The correct answer is A) Histone deacetylation generally decreases gene expression.

Explanation:

Histones are the proteins that are responsible for the condensation of chromatin, which is directly linked to the capacity that a gene has to be expressed. The more condensed a gene is, the less expressible it becomes.

In order to regulate the gene expression, histones can suffer from many modifications that can change their conformation and the expressiveness of specific genes.

Histone acetylation is linked with an increase of gene expression; while deacetylation and methylation decrease gene expression.

In 3–5 sentences, compare and contrast the flow of matter and energy in each trophic level for land-based ecosystems and marine
Mnenie [13.5K]

Answer:

Unlike matter, as energy flows through an ecosystem in one direction, from photosynthetic organisms to herbivores to omnivores and carnivores and decomposers, less and less energy becomes available to support life.

Explanation:

Primary producers use energy from the sun to produce their own food in the form of glucose, and then primary producers are eaten by primary consumers who are in turn eaten by secondary consumers, and so on, so that energy flows from one trophic level, or level of the food chain, to the next.

Energy is acquired by living things in three ways: photosynthesis, chemosynthesis, and the consumption and digestion of other living or previously-living organisms by heterotrophs.

Living organisms would not be able to assemble macromolecules (proteins, lipids, nucleic acids, and complex carbohydrates) from their monomeric subunits without a constant energy input.
