Aquatic Equipment Corporation decided to switch from the LIFO method of costing inventories to the FIFO method at the beginning

of 2021. The inventory as reported at the end of 2020 using LIFO would have been $68,000 higher using FIFO. Retained earnings at the end of 2020 was reported as $860,000 (reflecting the LIFO method). The tax rate is 35%. Required: 1. Calculate the balance in retained earnings at the time of the change (beginning of 2021) as it would have been reported if FIFO had been used in prior years. 2. Prepare the journal entry at the beginning of 2021 to record the change in accounting principle.

Answer and Explanation:

The computation is shown below

1. The adjusted balance in the retained earning is shown below:

= beginning balance of retained earning + adjusted net income

where,

beginning balance of retained earning is $860,000

And, the adjusted net income is

= $68,000 × (1 - 0.35)

= $44,200

So, the adjusted balance in the retained earning is

= $860,000 + $44,200

= $904,200

2. Now the journal entry is

Inventory $68,000

      To Retained earning $44,200

      To Tax payable $23,800   ($68,000  × 35%)

(Being the adjustment of ending inventory is recorded)

It increased the inventory and along with it it also increased the equity and liabilities so the respective account is debited and credited

Serggg [28]

Answer:

The correct answer is letter "C": keep prices of downloads low and raise prices for concerts and merchandise.

Explanation:

To maximize profits, Augi's agent should not stop doing any of the commercial activities the pop singer has been carrying out. However, a way to deal with Augi's music internet piracy, the agent could lower the online-song prices but the "losses" can be compensated by raising the concert ticket prices and the singer's merchandise sold there since most of Augi's concerts are sold-outs.

Michael’s Bakery had $236,400 in net fixed assets at the beginning of the year. During the year, the company purchased $53,200 i
alexdok [17]

Answer:

$270,300

Explanation:

Given that,

Net fixed assets at the beginning of the year = $236,400

New equipment purchased = $53,200

Old equipment sold = $22,000

Book value of old equipment = $5,900

Depreciation expense for the year = $13,400

The value of new equipment purchased added to the fixed assets, the book value of the old equipment and the depreciation expense are deducted from the fixed assets.

The sale of old equipment and depreciation expense reduces the net fixed assets, that's why it is deducted from the net fixed assets.

Net fixed assets at the end of the year:

= Beginning net fixed assets + Value of new equipment - Book value of the old equipment sold - Depreciation expense

= $236,400 + $53,200 - $5,900 - $13,400

= $270,300
