The economy of the United States is based on Capitalism and the free market. People work very hard to get rich. If you want something, you pay for it. It is a business, not a beneficial institution. Businessmen produce their products and services to make an income and want their companies to be profitable. They consider that it is the government who has to provide public services for free or for a cheap price. That is why the government has designed programs to help the poor and the one in need throughout American history.
