In 1916, Woodrow Wilson ordered General John J. Pershing to lead U.S. troops into Mexico to capture b) Pancho Villa. This happened on March 15th in 1916 when Woodrow Wilson sent 4,800 United States troops into Mexico, specifically near the Mexican-US border to pursue Pancho Villa. Pancho Villa was a Mexican revolutionary general and was very popular within some circles in Mexico.
