Given that:
5π/3
=5/3×180
=240°
This is in the Quadrant III
The value of cot 5π/3 will be given by:
cost θ=1/tan θ
thus
tan θ
=tan 5π/3
=tan 240
=tan (240-180)
=tan 60
using an equilateral triangle with lengths 2 units
then
tan 60=√3/1
tan 60=√3
hence
tan 240=√3

Answer:

In Quadrant I(0°≤A≤90°)= All trigonometric functions are positive

In Quadrant II(90°≤A≤180°)=Sine and Cosine are positive.

In Quadrant III(180°≤A≤270°)=Cot and Tan are positive.

In Quadrant IV(270°≤A≤360°)=Sec and Cos are positive.

Cot (\frac{5\pi}{3})=Cot (2\pi -\frac{\pi}{3})\\\\Cot (2\pi -A^{\circ})=-Cot A^{\circ}\\\\Cot (2\pi -\frac{\pi}{3})= -Cot (\frac{\pi}{3})\\\\Cot(\frac{180^{\circ}}{3})=-Cot 60^{\circ}\\\\-Cot 60^{\circ}=\frac{-1}{\sqrt{3}}

The lifespan of a guinea pig is 8 years shorter then the lifespan of a puma. Write a subtraction equation that you could use to
Papessa [141]

Answer:

x-8=puma

Step-by-step explanation:

x is larger so it is first and since it is 8 years shorter, you subtract 8. Which equals the puma.

Do you use the same principle when adding and subtracting as you would multiplying in fractions?
dimaraw [331]
No that wouldn't work.
e.g 1/2 + 1/2 would become 2/4 (which is equivalent to 1/2) if you just added the numbers, which can't be right.

You need to find equivalent fractions so that each fraction has the same number on the bottom (denominator) and then add ( or take away) the top numbers.

1/2 + 1/2 has same number on bottom, so just add top numbers to get 2/2 =1

so 1/4 + 1/2 has diff nos on bottom, so change 1/2 to 2/4.
1/4 + 2/4 = 3/4

2/3 - 1/4 = 8/12 - 3/12 = 5/12

You may need to ask your teacher about equivalent fractions.

For number 7 I need an explanation with steps for why is true or false <br> Thank you
BaLLatris [955]

Answer:

Part 1) The statement is false

Part 2) The statement is false

Part 3) The statement is true

Step-by-step explanation:

Let

h(t)-----> the height of an object launched to the air

t ----> the time in seconds after the object is launched

we have

h(t)=-16t^{2} +72t

<em>Verify each statement</em>

case 1) The factored form of the equation is h(t)=-16(t-4.5)

The statement is false

Because

The factored form is equal to

h(t)=-16t(t-4.5)

case 2) The object will hit the ground at t=72 seconds

The statement is false

Because

we know that

The object will hit the ground when h(t)=0

substitute in the equation and solve for t

0=-16t(t-4.5)

so

(t-4.5)=0

t=4.5\ sec

case 3) The t-value for the maximum of the function is 2.25

The statement is true

Because

Convert the quadratic equation in vertex form

h(t)=-16t^{2} +72t

h(t)=-16(t^{2} -4.5t)

h(t)-81=-16(t^{2} -4.5t+2.25^{2})

h(t)-81=-16(t-2.25)^{2}

h(t)=-16(t-2.25)^{2}+81 ---> quadratic equation in vertex form

The vertex is a maximum

The vertex is the point (2.25,81)
