Assuming health non-mutated animals:
Feet = 4*Pigs + 2*Chickens
Heads = Pigs + Chickens

By back substitution:
78 = 4*(27-Chickens) + 2*Chickens
78 = 108 -2*Chickens
-30 = -2*Chickens
Chickens= 15

Then:
27 = Pigs + 15
Pigs = 12

To check:
Feet = 4*Pigs + 2*Chickens
78 = 4*12 + 2*15
78 = 48 + 30
78 = 78 CHECKS

gladu [14]

Answer:

Substitute y=x-2y=x−2 into y=-0.5x+4y=−0.5x+4.

x-2=-0.5x+4x−2=−0.5x+4

2 Solve for xx in x-2=-0.5x+4x−2=−0.5x+4.

x=4x=4

3 Substitute x=4x=4 into y=x-2y=x−2.

y=2y=2

4 Therefore,

\begin{aligned}&x=4\\&y=2\end{aligned}

Gre4nikov [31]

The solution for this problem is:

<span>Let time taken by Emily be x </span>

<span>
then Aileen take 2/3 of x = 2x/3 </span>

<span>
1 min work of Emily = 1/x</span>

<span>
1 min work of Aileen = 1/ 2x/3 => 3/2x</span>

<span>
1 min work of both = 1/45</span>

<span>
1/x + 3/2x = 1/45</span>

<span>
5/2x = 1/45</span>

<span>
1/x = 2/225</span>

<span>
Emily take 225/2 mins to complete the work, then Aileen</span>
