First convert the mixed numbers into fractions:
2 1/6 = 13/6
4 2/3 = 14/3

Now add the fractions:
13/6 + 14/3 = (13 + 14*2)/6 = (13+28)/6 = 41/6

Now convert it back to mixed number
41/6 = 6 5/6

thus 2 1/6 + 4 2/3 = 6 5/6

Hope it helps!

First change mixed number to improper fractions

Rule a b/c=(ac+b)/c

13/6+14/3

To add or subtract fractions you need a common denominator...

Rule to change denominator without changing the ratio of the fraction...

(a/b)=(a/b)*(c/c)=(ac)/(bc) multiplying anything by one keeps the original value intact...

13/6+(14/3)(2/2)

13/6+28/6

Rule for adding fractions...(a/b)+(c/b)=(a+c)/b so

41/6

And you can change this back to a mixed number if you wish.

41/6=6 5/6

Is P - 1 upon p = 4 find P + 1 upon p whole square
zlopas [31]

Given that (p - 1/p) = 4, the value of p² + 1/p² is 18. Detail below

Data obtained from the questio

 • (p - 1/p) = 4
 • p² + 1/p² = ?

How to determine the value of p² + 1/p²

(p - 1/p) = 4

Square both sides

(p - 1/p)² = (4)²

(p - 1/p)² = 16 ....(1)

Recall

(a - b)² = a² + b² - 2ab

Thus,

(p - 1/p)² = p² + 1/p² - (2 × p × 1/p)

(p - 1/p)² = p² + 1/p² - 2

From equation (1) above,

(p - 1/p)² = 16

Therefore,

p² + 1/p² - 2 = 16

Rearrange

p² + 1/p² = 16 + 2

p² + 1/p² = 18

Thus, the value of p² + 1/p² is 18

Solve 3m+7/2=−2m+5/2 what is m
GenaCL600 [577]
Solve for m:3 m + 7/2 = 5/2 - 2 m
Put each term in 3 m + 7/2 over the common denominator 2: 3 m + 7/2 = (6 m)/2 + 7/2:(6 m)/2 + 7/2 = 5/2 - 2 m
(6 m)/2 + 7/2 = (6 m + 7)/2:(6 m + 7)/2 = 5/2 - 2 m
Put each term in 5/2 - 2 m over the common denominator 2: 5/2 - 2 m = 5/2 - (4 m)/2:(6 m + 7)/2 = 5/2 - (4 m)/2
5/2 - (4 m)/2 = (5 - 4 m)/2:(6 m + 7)/2 = (5 - 4 m)/2
Multiply both sides by 2:6 m + 7 = 5 - 4 m
Add 4 m to both sides:6 m + 4 m + 7 = (4 m - 4 m) + 5
4 m - 4 m = 0:6 m + 4 m + 7 = 5
6 m + 4 m = 10 m:10 m + 7 = 5
Subtract 7 from both sides:10 m + (7 - 7) = 5 - 7
7 - 7 = 0:10 m = 5 - 7
5 - 7 = -2:10 m = -2
Divide both sides of 10 m = -2 by 10:(10 m)/10 = (-2)/10
10/10 = 1:m = (-2)/10
The gcd of -2 and 10 is 2, so (-2)/10 = (2 (-1))/(2×5) = 2/2×(-1)/5 = (-1)/5:Answer: m = (-1)/5
