Mhm, absolutely. Notice that we do not have a common unit circle value for any division of 8. But we do have a value for is 7pi/4. Now in order to actually get the value of 7pi/8, we use a half angle formula. So what we do is we will write out the formula and plug 7pi/4 into that formula, this will give us the value of 7pi/8. So the formula we need to plug 7pi/4 into is this: ±1+cos2θ2−−−−−−−−−√SO if you plug in 7pi/4 for theta in that formula, you think you could simplify it to find 7pi/8?

Cos²(7pi/8)

cos²(7π/8)

But π radians = 180°

7π/8 = 7*180/8 = 157.5°

cos²(7π/8) = cos²(157.5°) = (cos(157.5))²

cos 157.5 = - cos(180 - 157.5)            Second quadrant angle

  cos 157.5     =  -cos22.5

  cos²157.5     =  cos²22.5.....................(a)

Note:  cos2θ= 2cos²θ - 1              Trigonometric Identity

cos45 = 2cos²(45/2) - 1

cos45 = 2cos²22.5 - 1            cos 45 = √2/2

√2/2 =  2cos²22.5 - 1

√2/2 + 1 = 2cos²22.5

2cos²22.5 = √2/2 + 1

  cos²22.5 = (√2/2 + 1)/2

Recall equation (a)

cos²157.5     =  cos²22.5.....................(a)

cos²157.5     =  cos²22.5 = (√2/2 + 1)/2

Therefore cos²(7pi/8) = cos²157.5     =  cos²22.5 = (√2/2 + 1)/2

Hope this explains it.

Jessica is selling books during the summer to earn money for college. She earns a commission on each sale but has to pay for her
Mrac [35]
For the answer to the question above,
since the only variable used to determine earnings is the number of doors knocked, you can eliminate options 1 and 3 as they are based on the number of books sold, which is not a part of the equation.

That leaves the only options being the increase of $20 or $50 for each door knocked. As the x value we multiply by 20, the correct answer is #2, her earnings will increase by $20 for each door knocked.

You can also check this by plugging in values:

Assume 10 doors are knocked:
E(10) = 20(10)-50 = 200-50 = 150

Assume 11 doors (1 more door) is knocked:
E(11) = 20(11)-50 = 220-50 = 170

The increase from 1 door is $20.

kest kuy is offering a sale on its laptop computers with a 20 percent discount off its original price. there is 8% sales tax add
iVinArrow [24]

Answer:

y = 0.88x

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

Discount = 20\%

Sales\ Tax = 8\%

Required

Determine the final price

First, we need to determine the sales price after the discount.

Discount = 20\% * x

Discount = 0.20 * x

Discount = 0.20x

Sales\ Price = x - Discount

Sales\ Price = x - 0.20x

Sales\ Price = 0.80x

Next, is to determine the sales tax.

Sales\ Tax = 8\% * x

Sales\ Tax = 0.08 * x

Sales\ Tax = 0.08x

Final Price, y is then calculated as thus:

y = Sales\ Price + Sales\ Tax

y = 0.80x + 0.08x

y = 0.88x
