Henry Clay (1777-1852) was known as the "Great Compromiser". He participated in the House of Representatives and in the Senate as representative from Kentucky and he also served as Speaker of the House of Representatives. He promoted John Quincy Adams to be president and he became his Secretary of State afterwards. He had a prolific career in politics, but he was never elected president.
He took promoted important agreements related to the slavery issue during the Nullification crisis, he participated in the Missouri Compromise (1820), the Compromise Tariff (1833), and the Compromise of 1850 and he even designed and promoted economic regulations such the very detailed plan known as the American System.
There are a lot of different groups of people. Different languages hinder their stand against British Imperialism because of difficulty in unification.
