Columnist: Metro City has a lower percentage of residents with humanities degrees than any other city of comparable size in our

nation. Nationwide, university graduates generally earn more than people who are not university graduates, but those with humanities degrees typically earn less than do graduates with degrees in other disciplines. So the main reason Metro City has higher income per capita than any other city of comparable size in our nation must be its low percentage of residents with humanities degrees.
Which of the following, if true, would most strengthen the columnist's argument?

A. Metro City residents with humanities degrees have higher income per capita than do people with humanities degrees in any other city of comparable size in the nation.

B. The percentage of residents with university degrees is lower in Metro City than in any other city of comparable size in the nation.

C. Nationwide, university graduates without humanities degrees typically earn more than do individuals without university degrees.

D. Metro City residents with degrees outside the humanities have per capita income no higher than the per capita income of such residents of other cities of comparable size in the nation.

E. In Metro City, a lower proportion of university graduates have humanities degrees than in any other city of comparable size in the nation.

Answer:

D). Metro City residents with degrees outside the humanities have per capita income no higher than the per capita income of such residents of other cities of comparable size in the nation.

Explanation:

As per the question, option D displays the claim that would most appropriately empower the columnist's argument as this would substantiate his claim and establish the credibility of his argument. It provides as an alternative and reasonable justification to the conclusion that 'the key reason for Metro city residents having higher per capita in comparison to residents of other citizens' income is not only the lower percentage of the residents with humanities degrees' but simply their higher earning is the major reason for their higher per-capita income than the residents of other states. Therefore, option D is the correct answer.

Elza [17]

Hello!

The narrator is telling the story in order to explore the thoughts and feelings of several characters.

We can determine this through when the writer described that "he hoped no one would find the ball for the entire practice," and "greg couldn't wait for his turn at bat." This describes the thoughts and feelings of two different characters.

The answer could not be the other options because the readers are not learning about baseball, the narrator is not giving an opinion on the characters, and the readers are not generating an interest in baseball because they are not being taught about it.

I hope this helps you! Have a lovely day!

This poem is written in heroic couplets – a neoclassical style of poetry – as well as in iambic pentameter. In your opinion, why
mote1985 [20]

Answer:

Phillis Wheatley choose to write like this because:

1. Poems written in iambic pentameter expresses decorum and grandeur of the language.

2. Each couplet expresses a complete thought.

3. There is an "explosion" good rhyming couplets bring. It brings both the rhyme and the idea into a quick close in two lines.

Explanation:

Some of the benefits are:

1. This form of writing enabled Wheatley to purposefully advocate her freedom.

2. It was a tool to deliver safely on the subject matter for a slave poet in a dominantly white society.

3. Wheatley utilizes satire to force an acknowledgement of equality in the eyes of God by her keepers.

4. It makes poems and poets become serious and seriously accepted by readers.

The one disadvantage I discovered is that it seems somehow cumbersome to understand by laymen.
