D. because A. and B., although true, are not the main ideas for this paragraph. C. would be true, except explicit means that the paragraph comes right out and says the main idea. This paragraph did not, and so the answer is D.

Answer:

Hi!

The answer to this question would be option C. <em>J</em><u>udy Blume has been a very busy and gifted writer. (explicit) </u>

Explanation:

The main idea is stated at the beginning of the paragraph when the writer says "<em>Judy Blume's career as an American writer spans four decades and includes many literary awards</em>", therefore making the main idea explicit. The rest of the paragraph consists of ideas that <u>reinforce</u> this, i.e her book "tales of a fourth-grade nothing", the three novels for adults that reached the New York Times, etc.
