Answer:

explained

Explanation:

Certain amount of energy is required by the pipe for the flow of liquid, the pressure difference causes the liquid to flow and when a portion of energy or pressure is lost due to the resistance to flow this is termed as the head loss due to friction.

The impact of head loss due to friction in hydro power station are as follows

* energy losses occur whenever water flows through the pipe due to friction and this reduces the actual rate of power production.

* This also reduces the inside diameter of the pipe, increasing the velocity of the liquid.

* The pressure of water flowing through the pipe is reduced due to the friction of the sidewall.

 * The actual amount of energy is harnessed or reduced.

* The head loss will increase when the fluid flow through fittings bends due to friction effect that caused by viscosity. When the viscosity is reduced there is lower head loss due to friction in pipe.

Potential ways of reducing the head loss due to friction are as follows-

* increasing the diameter of the pipe.

* by reducing the roughness of the piping in the system.

* reducing the length of piping

* and also by reducing the number of tees, valves and other obstructions.

Trade-off is the technique of reducing or forgoing of more desirable outcomes in exchange of increasing or obtaining the other quality, quantity or property.
