What is one effect that the Hurricane of 1893 had on farmers?
Anni [7]

Answer:

The sixth tropical cyclone of the 1893 Atlantic hurricane season formed to the east of Cape Verde on 15 August. By 19 August, the system had intensified into a hurricane, reaching Category 3 strength on 22 August while located northeast of the Lesser Antilles. The hurricane then turned north-northwest as it approached the Bahamas on 25 August. That night, the first effects of the storm’s approach could be felt on the Sea Islands off the coast of Georgia and the barrier islands of South Carolina. Conditions rapidly deteriorated as the hurricane tracked parallel to the southeast U.S. coast for 161 km (100 mi) before making landfall as a Category 3 hurricane near Savannah, Georgia on 27 August. The hurricane carried an estimated 193 km/h (120 mph) winds and a tremendous storm surge (5 m/16 ft), which completely submerged many of the Sea Islands. The storm moved through South Carolina and up the East Coast before becoming extratropical over the Canadian Maritime Provinces on 1 September.

The hurricane’s storm surge caused a great amount of destruction to the Sea Islands and the peninsulas that line the Georgia and South Carolina coastlines. Some 2,000 people are said to have drowned during the event. Nearly every building on the Sea Islands was damaged beyond repair leaving 30,000 people homeless. It took over a month for the American Red Cross to arrive to the disaster areas, possibly due to ongoing efforts in response to another hurricane that had hit South Carolina in June. Relief efforts were further hampered by another Category 3 hurricane, which struck just north, near Charleston, South Carolina, on 13 October. After a significant 10-month relief campaign, housing and food resources had been restored to the Sea Islands. Damages from the hurricane totaled at least $1 million (1893 USD [$22.8 million 2007 USD])

Accurate information regarding the distribution and limitation of powers within the
Greeley [361]
There are several key components that contribute to making the balance of power successful in the United States government. Perhaps the most important is the division of power among three branches: the executive branch, the legislative branch, and the judicial branch. These various entities have specific jobs to do but must work in conjunction with each other. If they were allowed to work independently, there would be no check and balance system for our laws.

Additionally, in order for a bill to pass and become law, it must be first approved by the House of Representatives, then it must pass through the U.S. Senate. These two groups act as a screening process to ensure the bills are going to be beneficial to the majority of people in the country.

Another limitation of power is in the presidential veto. The president can veto a bill that's been passed by the House and Senate if he or she feels it would be in the best interest of the country and its peoples.

A third critical component involving limitation of power is in the requirement of the president to serve no more than two terms. This is called term limits and allows for healthy turnover, fresh ideas, and eliminates the possibility of what could be conceived as a dictatorship.

What do you think the Vietnam War
was about?
Stella [2.4K]

Answer:

From November 1st, 1955 until the fall of Saigon on April 30th, 1975, the Vietnam War, also known as the Second Indochina War and in Vietnam as the Resistance War Against America or simply the American War, was a conflict in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia.

The Vietnam War was a long, destructive and divisive confrontation that pitted North Vietnam's communist government against South Vietnam and the United States, its key ally. The persistent Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union has escalated the dispute.

In 1949, China had become communist and North Vietnam was dominated by the communists. The USA was afraid of the spread of communism to South Vietnam and then to the rest of Asia. To assist the South Vietnamese government, it decided to send money, supplies and military advisers.
