Explanation:  maps an important tool for European powers during the 1500's because in the old age era, people were not that much familiar with the geographical location of the world so they had to rely on maps to see where they currently were or where they should head too next. In addition to this, they also had to plan strategically their attacks and to see from where they had to send their troops, maps were essential.
