Bonjour

To ask about the weather

what's the weather like ? ==>

Quel temps fait-il ?

For weather with adjectives as " beau/nice", "froid/cold", "chaud/hot", "doux/warm", "frais/cool",  you'll use "<em>FAIRE (il, 3rd pers. sing.) + adjective"</em>

il fait beau

il fait froid

il fait chaud

il fait frais

il fait doux

if you use an adjective + -y , as it's windy, it's cloudy, it's sunny ... you'll use "il y a + noun"

il y a du soleil = it's sunny

il y a du vent = it's windy

il y a des nuages = it's cloudy

Then you have verbs as "pleuvoir/ to rain", "neiger/ to snow", "to freeze/geler", .. you'll use the 3e pers. sing : il + verbe

Il pleut = it's raining

il neige = it's snowing

il gèle = it's freezing

Of course you have expressions as

it's raining dogs and cats = il pleut des cordes

....

Hope this will help ☺☺☺

What is the difference between French &amp; English intonation?
alisha [4.7K]

Answer:

French intonation starts at a higher pitch and falls continuously throughout the sentence, whereas in English, the stressed syllable has a higher pitch that what precedes and follows it. Listen to these sentences in English and French and see if you can hear the difference in intonation. Bold marks the higher pitch.
