By using ordinary language to describe the events surrounding the nose's disappearance arrived at this answer after reading a portion o f the story involving the disappearance of the nose. "But, to his unbounded astonishment, there was only a flat patch on his face where the nose should have been! Greatly alarmed, he got some water, washed, and rubbed his eyes hard with the towel. Yes, the nose indeed was gone! He prodded the spot with a hand—pinched himself to make sure that he was not still asleep. But no; he was not still sleeping. Then he leapt from the bed, and shook himself. No nose! Finally, he got his clothes on, and hurried to the office of the Police Commissioner. "In the above quote, ordinary language was used. It would seem as though losing a nose is no big deal for the character. Instead, he is more concerned of going to the office. His reaction is quite unbelievable.

During an El Niño–Southern Oscillation event, which of the following best describes conditions in the eastern part of the tropic
miss Akunina [59]

Answer:

High sea surface temperature and High rainfall

Explanation:

El Niño is a pattern of climate that causes the unusual warming of surface waters in the eastern part of the tropical Pacific Ocean. It affects the temperature of the ocean and changes the strength and speed of its currents, coastal fisheries' health, and local weather from South America to Australia and beyond.

It begins when warm water in the western part of the tropical Pacific Ocean moves toward the eastern part of the tropical Pacific Ocean along the equator. Usually, warm water pools near Indonesia and the Philippines, but during El Niño, the warmest water of the Pacific Ocean assembles at the eastern part of the tropical pacific ocean.

Moreover, trade winds weaken in the central and western part of the tropical Pacific Ocean that weaken the upwelling of nutrient-full cold water to cool warm surface water at the eastern tropical Pacific Ocean. This warm surface water of eastern part of tropical Pacific Ocean warms the atmosphere that empowers moisture-rich air to develop into thunderstorms.

In this way El Niño - Southern Oscillation Event causes the rise in temperature of sea surface and high rainfall at eastern part of the tropical Pacific Ocean.

Do you think that the small of rain in Leh affects how people live their lives? Why or why not?
Alekssandra [29.7K]

Answer:A heavy layer of smog hangs over the city. We can see it as we rise into the sky. We fly away from Faridabad, the second most polluted city in the world, and into the pristine mountains of Leh.

I stayed up until 2 am last night, researching what happens to a body when it flies into a high-altitude city. I ended up taking a Diamox tablet just to help with the nerves. The hour long flight is filled with sweaty palms as I wonder what’s going to happen when they depressurise the cabin. The internet told tales of people vomiting in the airport, the altitude got to them so quickly. Hospitalisation and oxygen tanks. People rushing in taxis to a lower town. Having hiked to 5600m, last time I was in the Himalayas, I know what it feels like to not have enough oxygen. Sleepless nights, exhaustion, headaches.

The plane shakes as it lands and I grip the arm of my seat. I never used to be scared of flying, but lately, I’m intensely aware of all the possible ways this life may end too soon. I’ve been taking fewer risks lately. I wonder if it’s just a natural part of getting older. I’m turning 28 next month. Or if there’s been a shift in the natural order of things. If the book I’m reading, Salman Rushdie’s The Ground Beneath her Feet, is telling some sort of truth about parallel universes getting too close, and about rifts forming and threatening an end to things. It would explain why the world seems so on edge lately.
