3. If y=5x+9 and y=3x-2, then

5x+9=3x-2\implies2x+9=-2\implies2x=-11\implies x=-\dfrac{11}2

Then

y=5\left(-\dfrac{11}2\right)+9=-\dfrac{55}2+9=-\dfrac{37}2

(only one solution)

4. If y+2=4x, then y=4x-2. So we're told that 4x-5=4x-2 but this is impossible, because that would that for any x, we have -5 = -2. This is false, so this system has no solution.

7. "y is 6 less than 3 times x" means y=3x-6. "x is 2 more than one-third of y" means x=\dfrac13y+2. Solving the second equation for y gives y=3x-2, which would mean 3x-6=3x-2. But for the same reason as in (4), there is no solution. For any value of x, this equation gives the false conclusion that -6 = -2.

How do you solve for the segment area in a circle?
Aleks04 [339]
The area of the entire sector of DEF = 60 / 360 * PI * radius^2
sector area = 1 / 6 * 3.14159265... * 20^2
sector area = <span> <span> <span> 209.4395102393 </span> </span> </span>

segment area = sector area - triangle DEF Area
triangle DEF Area = (1/2) * 20 * sine 60 * 20
triangle DEF Area = (1/2) * 0.86603 * 400
triangle DEF Area = <span><span><span>(1/2) * 346.412 </span> </span> </span>
triangle DEF Area = <span> <span> <span> 173.206 </span> </span> </span>

segment area = <span> <span> 209.4395102393 </span> -173.206
</span>
segment area = <span> <span> <span> 36.2335102393 </span> </span> </span>
segment area = 36.23 m

Verify sin2θ/1+cos2θ =tanθ
Andrej [43]

Answer:

LHS.= Sin 2x /( 1 + cos2x )

We have , sin 2x = 2 sinx•cosx

And. cos2x = 2cos^2 x - 1

i.e . 1+ cosx 2x = 2cos^2x

Putting the above results in the LHSwe get,

Sin2x/ ( 1+ cos2x ) =2 sinx•cosx/2cos^2x

=sinx / cosx

= Tanx

.•. sin2x/(1 + cos2x)= tanx

A car is 200 km from its destination after an hour and 80 km from its destination after 3 hour
Pani-rosa [81]

200 - 80 is equal to 120. So the car traveled 120 km in 3 hours. It travels at an average of 120/3 = 40 km/hr, and will reach its destination in 2 hours.
