Determine whether this nonfiction book would be a good source for a student to use in an assignment about the American Revolution

. Be sure to explain how you used validity, credibility, and corroboration by other sources to make your decision. A student wants to use the following excerpt from the nonfiction book The Fight for Independence, written by Bailey Kingobi, a professor of American history, in 2016. Professor Kingobi has written other books and articles about early American history. After reading the excerpt, the student finds similar information in several other books and articles. Excerpt Though the Revolutionary War was fought for only eight years, from 1775 to 1783, its impact on global history lasted much longer. The war was caused by political and philosophical differences between the American colonies and Great Britain. Because of the war, a new country with a new approach to government — democracy — was formed. The new United States of America would serve as a source of inspiration to other nations fighting for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Answer:

A nonfiction book is always a good reference however, it would need to be based on the true story. if you choose to use a nonfiction book make sure that the content you are using aligns with historical facts. in most cases though it is just easier to use a textbook with information you know is completely accurate. to check just use multiply websites and books and it they all contain the same thing on a basis then it most likely is accurate.

Why might the execution of the king push the revolution into a radical new phase?
Nadya [2.5K]
The execution of the king would mean that the country would no longer have a leader and that empty position would need filling, so the country revolutionaries would need to decide what kind of government they want and whom would fill in the empty position.

Restoring the Rule of Law Through a Fair, Humane, and Workable Immigration System

Getty/Mario Tama

New U.S. citizens gather at a naturalization ceremony, March 2018.

OVERVIEW

Policymakers must break free of the false dichotomy of America as either a nation of immigrants or a nation of laws, and advance an immigration system that is fair, humane, and actually works.

Introduction and summary

The immigration debate in America today is nearly as broken as the country’s immigration system itself. For too many years, the conversation has been predicated on a false dichotomy that says America can either honor its history and traditions as a nation of immigrants1 or live up to its ideals as a nation of laws by enforcing the current immigration system.2 Presented with this choice,3 supporters of immigration—people who recognize the value that immigrants bring to American society, its culture, and its economy, as well as the important role that immigrants play in the nation’s continued prosperity—have traditionally seized the mantle of defending America as a nation of immigrants.4 By doing this, however, rather than challenging the dichotomy itself, supporters have ceded powerful rhetorical ground to immigration restrictionists, who are happy to masquerade as the sole defenders of America as a nation of laws.5 The fundamental problem with this debate is that America is, and has always been, both a nation of immigrants and a nation of laws. Debates over a liberal immigration policy actually predate the start of the nation itself; they infused the drafting of the U.S. Constitution, America’s founding document.6
