XY = 17

Step-by-step explanation:

It is given that x is the mid-point of WY, so it divides WY in two equal parts

WX and XY so the sum of both lengths will constitute the length of WY

WY = WX+XY\\XY = WY - WX

putting values

XY = 10x-26 -(3x-1)\\= 10x-26-3x+1\\= 7x-25

As X is the mid-point,

WX = XY\\3x-1 = 7x-25\\3x-1-3x = 7x-25-3x\\-1 = 4x-25\\-1+25 = 4x-25+25\\24 = 4x

Dividing both sides by 4

\frac{4x}{4} = \frac{24}{4}\\x = 6

XY = 7x-25

=7(6) -25\\= 42-25\\=17

So,

XY = 17

<u>Verification:</u>

WX = XY

3x-1 = 7x-25\\3(6)-1 = 7(6)-25\\18-1 = 42-25\\17 = 17

if a number is increased by 100%, how does the increased number compare with the original number? explain
Harrizon [31]
Through common sense a number is already at it’s 100%. And so by increasing The percentage of the number you are also increasing the number itself.

For example take the number 10. If you increase it by 20% you'll take 2 out of 10 and add it to original number which will result in 12, 20% more or 120% in total. And so if you apply the same situation but with a hundred percent, you will double the number and get a number of 20 or 200%. An increase of a 100% plus the original 100%. If this doesn't make sense however, I'm sorry as my "explaining" skills suck

You and your friend are painting the walls in your apartment. You estimate that there is 1000 square feet of space to be painted
leva [86]
After 45 minutes you will have painted 4*45=180 square feet.

so the total number of painted area, y, is:

y=180+x*(3+4) after the 45 minutes

where x is the number of minutes AFTER THE 45 minutes:

if y is 1000 then

1000=180+x*7
820=x*7
x=117.14

so 117 minutes, or one hour and 57 minutes.
