How about a history project on the Mayflower?
It is the ship that carried the Pilgrims to the New World.
You would get to build a model ship, and you would need to put together display telling how the Mayflower helped the Pilgrims across the ocean.
No! Living there would be a nightmare for me, I'm what you would call "mixed." In the book you're reading the towns folk believe in segregation and punish those unjustly because of the color of their skin. It's also a very poor part of Alabama based on the description so schools would be awful, neighborhoods might be riddled with crime, and community resources would be very limited or non-existent (community centers, parks, hospitals, etc).
As for the second half, it was absolutely cruel. The parents should have kept a better eye on their children and reprimanded them for being so inconsiderate. They should have also educated them on letting other people just be since we're all different, with our own challenges.

Answer:
Yes, people keep improving ability to be competitive in order to survive in the sever competition of the society. But does success really require us to be competitive? I don¡¯t think so. People who are not competitive but eager to contribute themselves to society can succeed too. We don¡¯t have to be competitive in order to succeed. People are required to be highly competitive to rise above everyone to succeed. The law of natural selection derives from the central idea that only the “fittest survive”
