Paradise

In the story, “The Scarlet Ibis,” by James Hurst, there is much that can be found in the form of imagery, and there is much that can be found in the form of symbolism.  Symbolism can, in fact, be in the form things or even people in which the meaning goes further than the face value of what is being mentioned.  You’ll find that symbolism can exist to you as a reader, or it can exist within the story as things can certainly have a deeper meaning to a story’s characters.  One example of this is Old Woman Swamp symbolizes paradise to the characters of Doodle and Brother in “The Scarlet Ibis.”
