Jack plans to buy 2.25 pounds of coleslaw at $2.80 per pound. How much will he have to pay for that?
aalyn [17]
I think the answer is $6.30 , because you have to add. So 2.80 multiple by 2 would be 5.6 and after that you divide 2.80 by 4 since .25 it's a quarter of the whole so that gives you 6.3.

Using SOLVE, determine the number of marbles that are in a large cylindrical flask as depicted in the handout from Lesson 1. Sol
Ksenya-84 [330]

Given :

Diameter of the flask = 25 cm

radius, r = $\frac{25}{2}$ cm

Height of the flask, h = 40 cm

We have to find out the volume of the cylinder flask

Volume $= \pi r^2h$

           $= 3.14 \times (\frac{25}{2})^2 \times 40$

          = $19634.95 \ cm^3$

          = $19635 \ cm^3$

Now calculate the volume of the marble

Given :

Diameter = 13 mm

radius, R $=\frac{13}{2} \ mm$

Therefore, volume of the marble $=\frac{4}{3}\pi R^3$

                                                  $=\frac{4}{3}\times 3.14 \times (\frac{13}{2})^3$

                                                   $= 1150.35 \ mm^3$

                                                or  $= 115.035 \ cm^3$

Therefore, the number of the marbles $=\frac{\text{volume of flask}}{\text{volume of marble}}$

                                                          $=\frac{19635}{115.035}$

                                                        = 170.68

Therefore, the number of the marbles used is approximately 170.

Tina uses a $50 gift certificate to buy a pair of pajamas for 17.97 a necklace for 25.49 and 3 pairs of socks that each cost the
Furkat [3]
The overall cost is $50.33. you now subtract out the prices you know. The easiest way to do that is to add them up; 17.97+25.49. That is 43.46.

The next step is to subtract 43.46 from 50.33. 50.33-43.46=6.87. That is the price of all the pairs of socks put together.

to find out how much one pair is, you then divide 6.87 by 3. That is 2.29.

The answer is $2.29

I hope this helps!
