B) Chryses prayed to the gods and Apollo hears his plea

In the excerpt, Chyrses prays and Apollo "attends" and "descends". This shows that the gods heard his prayer and Apollo decides to help him. This best shows loyalty and friendship. A few of the options can be eliminated immediately because they are the opposite of friendship and loyalty. Option A is all about showing dominance, this has nothing to do with friendship. Option C says that the gods are fierce and vengeful which almost makes them seem villainous - the complete opposite of friendship. Last, option D talks about the gods reluctance to interfere and yet the passage shows that Apollo did in fact interfere.
