A thesis statement focuses your ideas into one or two sentences. It should present the topic of your paper and also make a comment about position in relation to your topic. Your thesis statement should tell the person reading your paper what the paper is about and also help guide your writing and keep your argument focused.

Do you think the contract the family signed about not getting attached to Gabe will work? Why or why not?
Advocard [28]
This question needs to be looked from two perspectives.
The first perspective is that of the characters from the book, The Giver, themselves. From their perspective it is possible as we can see from the novel when they almost showed no emotion to the news that Gabe will be released. This is due to the circumstances of the book where everyone is thought to be detached and they do not even understand the concept of love. Only Jonas gets attached to Gabe.

Second is our own perspective and it is nigh impossible for a person not to get attached to a baby for whom it is caring at least a little bit. The emotional attachment develops quickly for almost all of the people. So the contract in the real world probably would not work at all.

To check their understanding of text, readers should use A. evidence in the text B. information about the author's other works C
Elden [556K]

Answer:

A. evidence in the text.

Explanation:

Evidence in the text you are reading will help you most when trying to understand that text. This evidence will contain definitions, examples, quotes, etc. which will make things clear for you.

B is incorrect as the other works may or may not have anything to do with the text you're reading so they might not help you at all.

C is possible, but the text itself has all the answers - you just have to read it carefully.

D is incorrect because your fellow students may not have the appropriate notes and you should try to work things out on your own first anyway.
