I need help writing my argumentative essay on "Should English be the official language of the united states?"

If the claim is no you could talk about how the constitution protects people from persecution of speaking their native language.

How we have freedom of speech and can talk in any language we wish.

How America is a melting pot of different cultures. That we have no real stereotype over what an American would look like, sound like, so why should it be how we speak as well.

And a counterclaim could be that to be able to pass the citizenship test you must be able to read and write English proficiently.

Start the intro with a general statement about the topic. Then give some background about the issue and the various sides. Lastly, establish the thesis which should have your point of view without using the word "I." 

The first body paragraph should be you backing up you point of view using logos, pathos, and possible even ethos.

I would use the next body paragraph to explain why the opposite view is incorrect.

Finally, summarize but rephrase your main points in the conclusion.<span />
