Hubert Harrison founded the New Negro movement in 1917, to encourage African-Americans to became racially and class conscious and to become politically active, it also encouraged them to create and participate in art activities, which gave birth to the Harlem Renaissance, where a major number of African American artists developed and celebrated their though path.
