Answer:

According to the passage, which is NOT an effect of a person's adrenal glands being activating would be C) The person can grow taller.

Explanation:

When the adrenal glands are activated, our "fight-or-flight" response is activated, and our central nervous system (CNS) is fired on, specifically the sympathetic nervous system (SNS).

The other options like:

A) The person can run faster.

B) The person can hit harder.

D) The person can see and hear better.

Would actually be true, because our adrenal glands are on and have our SNS working, which can create quick, fast acting responses like these above.

This is rather than the parasympathetic nervous system (PNS) which counteracts this response and calms us down, allowing things like sleep, and the excretion of melatonin to occur, which happens when we are calm, and relaxed. Specifically, growth, which occurs while you sleep, is controlled by the pituitary gland, and its job is to produce and release hormones into your body.

Which is why, C) The person can grow taller is NOT an effect of a person's adrenal glands being activated.

Which sentence is most important to include in a summary of the article? A One company colored the river red and yellow with exc
sergiy2304 [10]

Answer:

B. The Hudson River became polluted in the effort to gain wealth.

Explanation:

The given question refers to an excerpt from the story River of Dreams written by Hudson Talbott.

A summary is a shortened version of a piece of writing (e.g. an excerpt, chapter, book, article). It should contain only the main ideas and most important supporting details presented in the text. The main idea is the most important point the author is making, and supporting details are pieces of information that explain, describe, illustrate, or expand the main idea.

The author of the given excerpt tells about how the Hudson River became polluted while people living around it aimed to gain wealth. That is the main idea of the excerpt, which is why option B is the correct one. The rest of the options are supporting details, which makes them incorrect.

vovangra [49]

Answer:

The ending did support the fakirs belief. At the end the White's most beloved thing (their son) was turned into a horrible monstrosity from the dead. This happened because the Whites wished for their son back from the dead. Upon this wish they tried to play God and messed with fate.

yulyashka [42]
Well we can look at this question and eliminate Rhetorical Question due to the fact the excerpt above isn't asking anything. We can also eliminate an allusion because this is not an allusion it is a dream. We can then eliminate Logo's because it is a Greek word meaning logic. Pathos makes no sense because there is not pity or sadness involved. So the only option left is A)Ethos. I hope this helps

Do you think people will steal if given the opportunity? Why or Why Not?
Darina [25.2K]

Answer:

It honestly depends on the person. If a person was in need of something, and was given the opportunity to steal that item, they would probably do it. Some other people will just steal just to make other peoples' lives miserable. If you ask me, I would probably not steal because it is the wrong thing to do, and you can get in trouble for it.
