Political reforms replaced the political power of the aristocratic system with a more democratized system that empowered the middle and working class through the empowerment of urban areas.and by 1870 it was the most powerful country in the world.Due to the severe problem created by Industrial Revolution, Britain became the most urbanized country One great reform is the Reform Act o 1832 that provided the middle rising class with more political power in urban areas, and lessening representation areas of England.
Some political reforms were;
-The 1832 reform act that gave vote to all middle class.
-The 1867 Reform Act which gave vote to male adult householder living in towns. In effect the reform gave vote to working classes in towns, around 1,500,000 people were given vote.
-The 1884 Reform Act gave vote to poor farmers and labourors which greatly reorganized electoral areas where population moved from the countryside to towns.
-The parliamentary act of 1911 that ended the veto of the House of Lords.

Social Reforms were introduced in 1906 when a liberal government was elected by a massive majority. Previously, a 30 % estimate of the population lived on the edge of starvation. Inequalities in wealth and income were also great where a middle class lived on 10 Pounds while a working class lived on 18 shillings a week. And, when the Boer War took place the medical condition of the working class were poor thus need for improvement or the nations health.
Social Reform introduced include:
-In 1907 medical tests were conducted for school students and free treatment to be provided.
-1906- Workers were compensated for injuries at work.
-1908- A five shillings pension was introduced for those over 70 years.
-1911-A National Insurance Act was introduced to provide workers with insurance in times of sickness.

The State of Louisiana has a very peculiar and particular history. Unlike other states from the Union, Louisiana did not become a U.S state until 1812, when it was purchased by Americans from the Spanish crown. Up until that point, political, social, economical and cultural life depended entirely on first the French influence, then the Spanish cultural influx when the region came under control of the Spanish crown and finally, later, in 1812, did Louisiana became an American state with American system of government. Another point to learn about this state is that its educational development came hand-in-hand with the influence from the Catholic Church. They were the first institution, with the support of the Spanish crown, to establish educational institutions that were for the poor and rich alike, for men and women and also black and white. It was not until much later, a few years before the Civil War and later that segregation and conflicts between original Creole inhabitants of the state and citizens coming from other states started. Later on, as the ninteenth and 20th centuries developed, a set of legislative decisions both statewise and nationwise changed the way that the educational system was handled. It was then that public education as such started, but the problem was that segregation also came with it and a setback for equal education regardless of sex, religion or race. 1. The changes in legislative laws affected the educational system because it created divisions and an awareness of the reasons for these divisions, which had not been present before. 2. These legislative decisions however allowed for the increase in number of educational organization and institutions which were controlled by the state and gave more access to the poorer citizens of the state. It increased access to education but at the same time, in reality, it ensured this mostly for white people. 3. It is important to revive cultural traits in Louisiana because its history and cultural traits are very unique in the United States and it is what makes this state so different. THeir historical and cultural background enriches American history and culture. 4. Nowadays there are several attempts to bring back cultural revival in the state of Louisiana that attempt not only to teach citizens the roots from which the state arises but also ingrain a sense of belonging.

What event led to the 1964 Gulf of Tonkin Resolution? the sinking of a US cruise ship with heavy casualties in the Gulf of Tonki
vlada-n [284]

Answer: Alleged attack on US Navy ships by North Vietnamese torpedo boats.

Detail:

The Gulf of Tonkin Resolution was a measure passed by US Congress that allowed the US President to make military actions, like increase troops, without formal declaration of war. It led to huge escalation of US involvement in the Vietnam War. The resolution was passed by Congress in August, 1964, after alleged attacks on two US naval ships in the Gulf of Tonkin. The key wording in the resolution said:

 • Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, that the Congress approves and supports the determination of the President, as Commander in Chief, to take all necessary measures to repel any armed attack against the forces of the United States and to prevent further aggression.

That resolution served as a blank check for President Johnson to send troops to whatever extent he deemed necessary in pursuance of the war. Between 1964 and the end of Johnson's presidency in 1969, US troop levels in Vietnam increased from around 20,000 to over 500,000.
