25/1.75 is approximately 14
30/2.8 is about 10. Because the kids need BOTH ribbon and fabric, only 10 can participate because that's all the fabric available

Answer:

Thus, only 10 children will be able to participate in the activity.

Step-by-step explanation:

Total quantity of Ribbon = 25 yards

Total quantity of Fabric available = 30 yards

Amount of ribbon required by a child = 1.75 yards

Amount of fabric required by a child = 2.8 yards

Ribbon is available for \frac{\text{Total quantity of ribbon}}{\text{Ribbon required for one child}} = \frac{25}{1.75} = 14.29 ≈ 14 Children

Ribbon is available for \frac{\text{Total quantity of fabric}}{\text{Fabric required for one child}} = \frac{30}{2.8} = 10.71 ≈ 10 Children

Thus, only 10 children will be able to participate in the activity as enough fabric is not available for 14 children to participate.

Answer:

You multiply 5 by 1/5 to get 1. So with 2x, you multiply by 1/(2x) to get 1. That's about all you know, since we only know that x is positive.

Recent studies indicate that the average surface temperature of the
andreev551 [17]

Answer:

Slope : The rate of increase of temperature on the earth's surface is 0.02°C per year since 1900.

T-intercept : 8.5 represents the temperature in °C of the earth's surface in the year 1900.

Step-by-step explanation:

The average surface temperature of Earth rising steadily. Scientists have modeled the temperature by the equation, T = 0.02t + 8.50 where t represents years since 1900 and T is the temperature in ◦C.

Now, the slope of the model equation is 0.02 which means the rate of increase of temperature on the earth's surface is 0.02°C per year since 1900.

Again, the T-intercept i.e. 8.5 represents the temperature in °C of the earth's surface in the year 1900. (Answer)

Alex the electrician needs 34 yards of electrical wire to complete his job. He has a coil of wiring in his workshop. The coiled
bogdanovich [222]

Answer: This coil will not be enough to complete the job.

Step-by-step explanation:

The circumference of the coil of wiring can be calculated with:

C=2\pi r

Where r is the radius and \pi=3.14

The radius can be calculated by dividing the diameter by 2. Then:

r=\frac{18in}{2}\\\\r=9in

Convert 9 inches to yards (1 yard=36 inches):

(9in)(\frac{1yd}{36in})=0.25yd

Substitute this radius into the formula:

C=2(3.14)(0.25yd)\\C=1.57yd

Since there are 21 circles of wire, you need to multiply C=1.57yd by 21:

C_T=(1.57yd)(21)=32.97yd

The coil has 32.97 yards of wire and Alex needs 34 yards, therefore, this coil will not be enough  to complete the job.
