The answer is . . . <u><em>m - k</em></u> minutes is the part of the lawn still unmowed.

You know it takes Paul m minutes to mow the entire lawn, and you know that he's mowed for k minutes so far . . .

 . . . the amount of time left is the total less the amount he's mowed so far

m - k  . . . is the time yet to be spent mowing the rest of the yard.

So work =time times rate or W=TR

so T=m-k
W=(m-k)R

if you want just m-k then m-k is the answer

Write an equation of a line in point-slope, slope-intercept, and standard form that has
Inga [223]

Answer:

(a) y + 4x - 14 = 0

(b) y = -4x + 14

(c) y + 4x = 14

Step-by-step explanation:

The formula for calculating the equation of line in point - slope form is given as :

y-y_{1}  = m(x-x_{1} )

where m is the slope

Given from the question :

m = - 4

x_{1} = 2

y_{1} = 6

Substituting into the formula , we have :

y - 6 = - 4(x - 2)

y - 6 = -4x + 8

y + 4x - 6 - 8 = 0

y + 4x - 14 = 0

Therefore :

(a) the equation of the line in point - slope form is y + 4x - 14 = 0

(b) to write it in slope - intercept form , we will make y the subject of the formula , which will give : y = -4x + 14

(c) the equation of line in standard form is ; y + 4x = 14

Gnesinka [82]

Answer:

WXYZ can not be a rectangle because consecutive sides are not perpendicular to each other.

Step-by-step explanation:

The given vertices are W(-4,3), X(1,5), Y(3,1) and Z(-2,-1).

Plot these points on coordinate plane and draw the quadrilateral as shown below.

Slope=\dfrac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}

Using this formula, we get

m_{WX}=\dfrac{5-3}{1-(-4)}=\dfrac{2}{5}

m_{XY}=\dfrac{1-5}{3-1}=\dfrac{-4}{2}=-2

Now,

m_{WX}\times =\dfrac{2}{5}\times (-2)=-\dfrac{4}{5}\neq -1

Here, WX and XY are two consecutive sides of quadrilateral but the product of their slopes is not equal to -1. It means they are not perpendicular to each other.

Since, all interior angles of a rectangle are right angles, therefore, WXYZ can not be a rectangle.
