A scatter plot is shown. Data points are located at 1 and 9, 3 and 5, 5 and 6, 4 and 4, 2 and 7, and 6 and 4. A line of best fit

crosses the y-axis at 10 and passes through the point 6 and 4. How many hours will Sherwin most likely sleep if he consumes 9 cups of coffee? 1, because y = −x + 10 2, because y = −x + 10 9, because y = −x + 10 10, because y = −x + 10

First we find the equation of the line.
We have then:
The standard equation of the line is:
y-yo = m (x-xo)
m = (y2-y1) / (x2-x1)
A line of best fit crosses the y-axis at 10 and passes through the point 6 and 4
m = (4-10) / (6-0)
m = -1
(xo, yo) = (6, 4)
The line is:
y-4 = -1 (x-6)
y-4 = -x + 6
y = -x + 10
Where,
y: number of hours slept.
x: number of coffee cups.
for x = 9
y = - (9) +10
y = 1 hour

Answer:
if he consume 9 cups of coffee, Sherwin will most likely sleep 1 hour.
1, because y = -x + 10

Answer:

  (i) 55.59 km/h

  (ii) 3600 nautical miles ≈ 6670.8 km

  (iii) 30°N 29.3°E

Step-by-step explanation:

(i) The speed in km/h requires a units conversion.

  (30 kt/h)(1.853 km/kt) = 55.59 km/h

__

(ii) Here, we assume we're interested in the distance traveled. If the course is "due east", we presume that means it follows the 30° latitude line, so is not the shortest route between A and B. That is, the distance from A to B will be different from the distance traveled. (The shortest route from A to B is along a great circle.)

  distance = speed × time

  distance = (30 kt/h)(120 h) = 3600 nautical miles

  = (55.59 km/h)(120 h) = 6670.8 km

__

(iii) The radius of the 30° latitude line is ...

  (6370 km)(cos(30°)) = 3185√3 km ≈ 5516.58 km

The relationship between arc length (s) and central angle (α) is ...

  s = rα

So, the change in the vessel's longitude is ...

  α = (6670.8 km)/(5516.58 km) ≈ 1.20923 radians ≈ 69.28°

Then town B has longitude ...

  40°W -69.3° = -29.3°W = 29.3°E

The position of town B is about 30°N 29.3°E.

_____

Additional comment

The route supposedly taken by this sea vessel is from the middle of the North Atlantic to a town in northern Egypt, through the northern Sahara desert. The eastern end point is shown in the attachment.

Some spherical trigonometry is involved if you want to find the end point of the great-circle route of the same length.

What is the solution to the equation
Dimas [21]

Answer:

D) 21!

Step-by-step explanation:

So what we are dealing with here is some fractions that need to be made equal

Think about the fractions 1/2 and 2/4. They look different, right?

Well really, they are equal to another. All we need to do is simplify them!

If we divide the numerator and denominator (the top and bottom) of the fraction by, lets say, 2!

2 / 2 = 1

-          -

4 / 2 = 2

And viola! It's been simplified down, and now we can see they are alike!

2 pieces of a pie cut in 4 pieces is the same as 1 piece of a pie cut in half!

(pro-tip, always try dividing a fraction by 2 first)

So now, using the same principal, we can solve this problem

By taking the denominators and dividing them like this:

35 / 5 = 7

We get 7! Now since we need to make these fractions equal, lets multiply the 7 we just got by the numerator of the second fraction, 3

7 x 3 = 21

So if we put the 21 over the 35, we get 21/35!

Thus, our answer is 21!

A computer is generating passwords. The computer generates six characters at random, and each is equally likely to be any of the
SVETLANKA909090 [29]

Answer:

0.1419 ( (if upper and lower cases are interchangeable)

0.348 ( if upper and lower cases are distinct letters)

Step-by-step explanation:

Each digit has 36 possible choices as 26+10

computer generates six characters

there are only 26 choices for letters only, (if we assume upper and lower cases are interchangeable)

For number of letters-only arrangements = 26^{6} = 308915776

For number of alphanumeric arrangements = 36^{6}= 2176782336

In order to find the probability of letters-only arrangements : \frac{308915776}{2176782336}

=>0.1419

Now, in different scenario if upper and lower cases are not interchangeable.

We will have 26+26+10=62 alphanumeric choices, and 52 alphabetic choices

Therefore, probability of letters-only arrangements will be \frac{52^{6} }{62^{6} }

=>0.348
