European explorers and settlers brought many diseases unknown by the Native American Indian tribes. Diseases such as typhus, smallpox, influenza, chickenpox, malaria, bubonic plague, and tuberculosis. These diseases wiped out nearly 90% of the American Indians. Furthermore, the American Indians did not use to record their information as other civilizations. Most of their traditions were passed orally to the next generation.
