How post world war 1 conditions influenced the United States to follow a policy of isolationism?

History

During the 1930s, the combination of the Great Depression and the memory of tragic losses in World War I contributed to pushing American public opinion and policy toward isolationism. Isolationists advocated non-involvement in European and Asian conflicts and non-entanglement in international politics. Although the United States took measures to avoid political and military conflicts across the oceans, it continued to expand economically and protect its interests in Latin America. The leaders of the isolationist movement drew upon history to bolster their position. In his Farewell Address, President George Washington had advocated non-involvement in European wars and politics. For much of the nineteenth century, the expanse of the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans had made it possible for the United States to enjoy a kind of “free security” and remain largely detached from Old World conflicts. During World War I, however, President Woodrow Wilson made a case for U.S. interventionin the conflict and a U.S. interest in maintaining a peaceful world order. Nevertheless, the American experience in that war served to bolster the arguments of isolationists; they argued that marginal U.S. interests in that conflict did not justify the number of U.S. casualties.

skelet666 [1.2K]
Traveling west in the 1800s would have been fraught with danger, but depending on the area traveled to, it could have been relatively safe. The dangers would have been from wagon breakages and native attacks on lands opened up by the Homestead Act. Moving west through the railroads, though, might have been a bit safer since it would have been less likely that they would have been set upon by the natives in those areas.

Among the forms of Consequentialism, which one you do not agree with? Why?
Misha Larkins [42]

Answer:

Examples of consequentialism

For instance, most people would agree that lying is wrong. But if telling a lie would help save a person's life, consequentialism says it's the right thing to do. Two examples of consequentialism are utilitarianism and hedonism. Utilitarianism judges consequences by a “greatest good for the greatest number” standard.

1. All people, including rulers, are required to obey the law.
prohojiy [21]
The correct answer is A) The benefits of limited government.

Answer choice A is correct because these statements describe the benefits of a government that is limited by a set of laws. For example, statement two says that " Binding documents are used to state laws and limitations." This statement shows that the government cannot due whatever they want. Rather, they are limited in their powers by a set of laws that all people must follow.
