Answer:

The United States Government's interests in Haiti existed for decades prior to its occupation. As a potential naval base for the United States, Haiti’s stability concerned U.S. diplomatic and defense officials who feared Haitian instability might result in foreign rule of Haiti. The Haitian Revolution created the second independent country in the Americas after the United States became independent in 1783. U.S. political leaders, many of them slaveowners, reacted to the emergence of Haiti as a state borne out of a slave revolt with suspicion, at times providing aid to put down the revolt

natali 33 [55]
I'm not sure, but I think because the Emancipation was achieved by the intervention of foreign powers.

#10 Who was Chief Joseph?
Rasek [7]

Answer:

hello!

Explanation:

10 Who was Chief Joseph?

B. a Nez Percé chief who said, “From where the sun now stands I will fight no more forever”

Well the Chief Joseph was a leader of the Wallowa band of the Nez Perce Tribe, who became famous in 1877 for leading his people on an epic flight across the Rocky Mountains. He was born in 1840.

Joseph and his tribe were taken to a reserve in Indian territory in Oklahoma, where they remained until 1885 when they were sent to the Colville reservation in north central Washington.

Joseph made several visits to Washington, D.C., to request a return to the country of Wallowa, but his pleas were in vain.

Joseph died in 1904 in Nespelem, Washington. His grave remains in Nespelem today.
