Previously,elderly people often experienced poverty but after the new deal the government played a role in protecting them financially. This was through the pension scheme that was introduced. With this scheme,the elderly would be paid money which they and their employers had contributed to the fund. those who did not have a fund prior the new deal were taken care of by the federal government.
