Answer:

C is a sentence fragment.

Explanation:

Sentence fragments are groups of words that look like sentences, but aren't. In order to be a sentence, groups of words need at least to have one independent clause. An independent clause is any group of words that contain both a subject and a verb and can stand alone as a sentence since it represents a complete thought.

The sentence above is not an independent clause, but a dependent one. It does not represent a complete thought, and therefore fails to stand on its own (see 1). The clause "he had built as a kid" modifies the noun "tree fort", so the pronoun "he" acts as the subject of that IP but it is not the subject of the clause. The subject of "hiding in the tree fort he had built as a kid" is an empty category linked to the overt subject of the main clause, yet there is no main clause, so the sentence lacks both the subject and the verb functioning as the predicate.

1) *Hiding in the tree fort he had built as a kid

The themes that apply to the Odyssey are 1) too much pride is dangerous, and 2) great journeys often lead back home. These are themes because these make up the general idea of the book. All of the other answers are either too specific or incorrect when looking at the plot of the novel to be true themes. Hubris (excessive pride) is a reoccurring issue and theme of the book, and the end of the hero’s journey ends with him back at his home in Ithaca, therefore, those are the two themes.

Which verb best completes this sentence?
Nat2105 [25]
A. See

It's A because, "Right now I will see several porpoises swimming next to our boat." doesn't make any sense. Had seen and will have seen does not make sense, too. Hope this helped you! :)

From the poem Ithaka, ''What does the speaker say will make the traveler wealthy?''
Fantom [35]

Answer:

The speaker says that the experience of going through the long journey will make the traveler wealthy.

Explanation:

Constantine Cavafy's poem "Ithaka" is an allegorical poem about the journey of Odysseus and his decade-long journey to get back home to Ithaca. The poem draws inspiration and alludes to that epic journey, but talks more in a generalized sense of getting knowledge through the journey.

The speaker "advises" that every man must go through a journey like Odysseus in order to get to one's own <em>"Ithaka"</em> or in this sense, one's life end or goal.<em> "Ithaka"</em> here is a metaphor for the personal goal of a person/ individual. And to him, the lifelong travel through numerous 'obstacles', the memories, the experience of the journey will make the traveler wealthy.

<em>Wise as you will have become, so full of experience, </em>

<em>you will have understood by then what these Ithakas mean.</em>

According to the poet, <u>it is not the physical wealth that will make the traveler rich but rather the experiences and life lessons he will have learned along the way, that will make him wealthy.</u>
