Remember, the thesis statement offers a summary of your main point.

ie.

Essay title: You will never understand a person  until you consider things from his point of view.

Essay thesis: It is important to consider things from others point of view because you can develop a different perspective of the world and comprehend the emotions of others.

All work is mine, as it is from an essay I wrote in my freshman year.

The setting is everything that relates to the time of the story, location of the story, and even the weather of the story. Sometimes it can even be the geographic location or economy, for example is the setting rich or poor?
