Phoenix [80]

Answer:

Explanation:

The stethoscope, a doctor's indispensable - 1816

The first entry on our list of the greatest French inventions has saved innumerable lives. This lifesaver was the humble stethoscope that was devised by the French physician René Laennec in 1816. It would immediately become one of the most important non-invasive medical instruments in the doctors' kit.  It works by using a small disc-shaped resonator to amplify the internal sounds of the patient.

The Etch-a-Sketch is French! - 1955-56

A French electrical technician, inventor, toymaker, and kite designer, André Cassagnes, designed one of the most popular toys of all time in the later 1950s.

These toys are effectively plotters. Etch-a-sketches work by scraping off aluminum powder on the inside surface of the main glass screen.

The knobs are used to control internal styluses that scrap off the powder coating, leaving a visible dark line.

The competition between the U.S. and the Soviet Union to get satellites and humans into space was known as the:
Finger [1]

Answer:

The correct answer is B. The competition between the U.S. and the Soviet Union to get satellites and humans into space was known as the space race.

Explanation:

The space race was a competition between the United States and the Soviet Union that lasted approximately from 1957 to 1975. It involved the parallel effort between the two countries to explore outer space with artificial satellites, to send humans into space and to pose a human being in Moon.

Although its roots lie in the early rocket technologies and international tensions that followed World War II, the space race actually began after the Soviet launch of Sputnik 1 on October 4, 1957. The term originated as an analogy of the arms race. The space race became an important part of the cultural and technological rivalry between the USSR and the United States during the Cold War. Space technology became a particularly important arena in this conflict, both because of its potential military applications and because of its psychological effects on the morale of the population.
