The alliance of the Spaniards with the Tlaxcalans is his one of the most important events in the history of Mexico. This European alliance with the Totonac and Tlaxcalan Indians produced a formidable coalition that would eventually lead to the downfall and destruction of the entire Aztec Empire.

Tlaxcala has his three famous bullrings. The most popular is Plaza Jorge "El Ranchero" Aguilar, built in the 18th century in the center of Tlaxcala town. Today it is known for its farms and weaving. Tlaxcala has a long and rich history of cultural diversity.
