Answer:

Cost of each item bought by Spongebob =x=\$3.75

Cost of items bought by Spongebob = 3x=3(3.75)=\$11.25

Cost of each item bought by Patrick =x-1.50=3.75-1.50=\$2.25

Cost of items bought by Patrick = 5(x-1.50)=5(3.75-1.50)=\$11.25

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x denotes cost of each item bought by Spongebob.

Number of items bought by Spongebob = 3

So,

Cost of items bought by Spongebob = 3x

Cost of each item bought by Patrick = x-1.50

Number of items bought by Patrick = 5

Cost of items bought by Patrick = 5(x-1.50)

Both Spongebob and Patrick paid the same amount of money.

So,

3x=5(x-1.50)\\3x=5x-7.5\\5x-3x=7.5\\2x=7.5\\x=\frac{7.5}{2} \\x=3.75

So,

Cost of each item bought by Spongebob =x=\$3.75

Cost of items bought by Spongebob = 3x=3(3.75)=\$11.25

Cost of each item bought by Patrick =x-1.50=3.75-1.50=\$2.25

Cost of items bought by Patrick = 5(x-1.50)=5(3.75-1.50)=\$11.25

Sophia is buying party favors. She has a budget of $2.75 person for 6 people. How much can Sophia spend on party favors? (I need
yKpoI14uk [10]
Let x represent the amount of money Sophia can spend on party favors.

x = amount of money Sophia can spend
$2.75 = amount spent per person
6 = amount of people

Equation:-

x ÷ $2.75 = 6

Now lets solve for x :-
To solve for x we will use d INVERSE OPERATION of division which is multiplication. Lets do it:-

x ÷ 2.75 = 6
6 × 2.75 = x
6 × 2.75 = 16.50
x = 16.50

CHECK OUR WORK:-

x ÷ 2.75 = 6
x = 16.50
16.50 ÷ 2.75 = 6
We were RIGHT!!

So, our equation for dis question would be x ÷ 2.75 = 6. When we solve for x, x = 16.50. Sophia can spend $16.50 on her party favors for 6 people.

Hope I helped ya!! xD

At a local grocery store, bananas were on sale. Green bananas were priced at $14.00 and yellow bananas were priced at $12.00. Sa
garri49 [273]

Answer:

Sabrina bought 6 yellow bananas and 3 green bananas

Step-by-step explanation:

Let

Green bananas = x

Yellow bananas = y

Green bananas = $14.00

Yellow bananas = $12.00

Total cost = $114.00

x + y = 9 (1)

14x + 12y = 114 (2)

From (1)

x = 9 - y

Substitute x = 9 - y into (2)

14(9 - y) + 12y = 114

126 - 14y + 12y = 114

- 14y + 12y = 114 - 126

-2y = -12

Divide both sides by -2

y = -12 / -2

= 6

y = 6

Substitute y = 6 into (1)

x + y = 9

x + 6 = 9

x = 9 - 6

= 3

x = 3

Sabrina bought 6 yellow bananas and 3 green bananas
