Answer:

Carole's situation :   2x + 11y = 196

Michele's situation:  10x + 11y = 276

Step-by-step explanation:

If x = cost of 1 cupcake, then 2x = cost of 2 cupcakes and 10x = cost of 10 cupcakes, et.

If y = cost of 1 sugar cookie, then 11y = cost of 11 sugar cookies.

Carole's situation :   2x + 11y = 196

Michele's situation:  10x + 11y = 276

Write three powers that have values greater than 120 and less than 130? Please answer. I need it right now... :(((((
olasank [31]
Consider a few powers which are close to 120 and 130:

squares:

10^2=100\\\\ 11^2=121\\\\12^2=144

cubes:

3^3=27\\\\4^3=64\\\\5^3=125\\\\6^3=216

4th powers:

3^4=81\\\\4^4=256

now clearly there is no point of checking 5th, 6th and so on powers of numbers >2.

so check powers of 2:

2^5=32, 2^6=64, 2^7=128

So we have :

11^2=121\\\\5^3=125\\\\2^7=128

In 1981, the Australian humpback whale population was 350 and has increased at a rate of 14% each year since then.)
dimulka [17.4K]

Answer:

In 1981, the Australian humpback whale population was 350

Po = Initial population = 350

rate of increase = 14% annually

P(t) = Po*(1.14)^t

P(t) = 350*(1.14)^t

Where

t = number of years that have passed since 1981

Year 2000

2000 - 1981 = 19 years

P(19) = 350*(1.14)^19

P(19) = 350*12.055

P(19) = 4219.49

P(19) ≈ 4219

Year 2018

2018 - 1981 = 37 years

P(37) = 350*(1.14)^37

P(37) = 350*127.4909

P(37) = 44621.84

P(37) ≈ 44622

There would be about  44622  humpback whales in the year 2018
