A group of students decided to carry out an investigation to find out how enzyme activity is affected by temperature changes . T

hey put samples of salivary amylase and starch into two test tubes . Salivary amylase is an enzyme that breaks down starch into maltose. It's optimum temp for activity is around 37c . What do you think happened to the rate of the reaction when they increased the temperature of the first test tube to 37c ?

Since the statement clearly states that the salivary amylase is an enzyme that breaks down starch into maltose at 37C.

When the first test tube has been increased to about the same temperature as the control group then the salivary amylase enzyme will metabolise the starch into maltose. This process is influenced then by the temperature for the enzyme to initiate and execute the activity.
