Just use algebra and cross multiply :)

14/12 = d/48 

(14 * 48) = 12d
672 = 12d
56 = d

You can check this by plugging 56 for d and simplifying the two fractions to see if they are equal.

14/12 = 7/6
56/48 = 7/6

So, d=56 is correct.
