religious followers centered around a church meeting house. The
Puritans were a limb of the Church of England who had many goals. The Puritans were
Protestant reformers who emanate in England. Later they extend to the American
colonies of New England. Their goal was to "purge" religion and
politics of corruption. They were first called Puritans by their adversary. But
eventually they assumed the name for themselves as a crest of honor.
