Okay. This is a bit hard, but this is what I think. I'm guessing that 53 is the cost for 1 pair of shoes. x is the percentage. I think that one is the whole pair of shoes and x is the decimal. I think that when you subtract 1 and the percentage, it gives you the remainder cost you have to pay. It's not D for sure. It's not C, because the percent of discount is x and that's in the problem. I think that the answer to this question is A, because after you find the remainder decimal, you have to multiply it with 53 to find the new price of the pair of shoes. The answer is A.
