It means they cannot be ''alienated'' or they are natural rights. Natural rights are those not contingent upon the laws, customs,or beliefs of any particular culture or government, and therefore universal and inalienable (i.e., rights that cannot be repealed or restrained by human laws).</span>

They can't take away those rights. like whatever rights they were there couldn't be anything done to take it away so they had to respect the rights and not do anything about it.

Determine Meaning What do you think Jefferson meant by "civil capacities" in the last sentence of Article II?
Amanda [17]

The correct answer to this open question is the following.

Although there are no options attached we can say the following.

What do you think Jefferson meant by "civil capacities" in the last sentence of Article II?

What Thomas Jefferson meant with the words "civil capacities" was that the American colonists had the right to choose their religion and were free to profess their belief systems with no consequences at all in their civil capacities which means, with no consequences in their work, legal activities or social status.

Here, we are talking about the document Thomas Jefferson wrote in 1774 titled "Virginia Statute for Religious Freedom." It was written by Jefferson because he could not attend the Virginia Convention of 1774 due to an illness. The Convention was called to decide what the colonists were going to do after the event of the Tea Boston Party.
